CISSP Exam Info

The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam is the required exam for the (ISC)2 certification. Candidates for the CISSP credential are experienced security practitioners, managers and executives interested in proving their knowledge across a wide array of security practices and principles. On May 1, 2021, the domains for the (ISC)2 CISSP credential exam were refreshed. According to (ISC)2, the content has been refreshed to reflect the most pertinent issues that cybersecurity professionals currently face.

Domains of the CISSP

The CISSP certification draws from a comprehensive, up-to-date, global Common Body of Knowledge (CBK®) that ensures security leaders have a deep knowledge and understanding of new threats, technologies, regulations, standards and practices. The CISSP exam tests the candidate's competence in the following eight (8) domains:

  • Security and Risk Management
  • Asset Security
  • Security Architecture and Engineering
  • Communication and Network Security
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)
  • Security Assessment and Testing
  • Security Operations
  • Software Development Security

CISSP Experience Requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years cumulative paid full-time work experience in two (2) or more of the eight (8) domains of the CISSP CBK.
A candidate that doesn’t have the required experience to become a CISSP may become an Associate of (ISC)2 by successfully passing the CISSP examination. The Associate of (ISC)2 will then have 6 years to earn the 5 years of required experience.

You've heard "a mile wide and an inch deep" when it comes to CISSP. Boson will teach you how to swim a foot deep, so that the inch-deep water of the exam will feel easier. Provisionally passed today.

This system is good if you need to test yourself on the technical material but it is absolutely nothing like the CISSP. I took the CISSP exam yesterday and passed, but don't feel that the Boson quizzes were that helpful for me.
If you don't have a lot of experience with timed test taking, then this is probably helpful. But do not think the Boson tests will be like the actual CISSP.
