Product Reviews: ExSim-Max for CISSP

I used this practice exam, with 900 practice questions spread among all 8 exam objectives, to study for the CISSP exam. I passed on the first try. PROs: A built-in study mode allows for in-depth discussion of each of the possible answers to every question, with an emphasis on why the correct answer was indeed correct. In addition, almost every question identifies the chapter and subtopic in the ISC2 Official Study Guide, and luckily I had already purchased that. This made deep dive study extremely efficient. CONs: Some of the study guide information didn't flesh out the answer well enough, but the information was (almost) always to be found somewhere–I made good use of both the index and online search engines. Also, after studying with this exam, I found the actual language of the exam questions were very dissimilar from the practice exam. This likely had nothing to do with Boson–exam language also varied from the question language of the Official Practice Tests from ISC2. Ultimately I found the actual exam questions to be unclear and indistinct. It seems to be a possible feature of their adaptive testing model. I believe the combination of Boson's practice exam and an intense study of the official study guide from ISC2 tutored me in the best way possible and led me to the aspects of the actual exam most critical for me to know and understand. Note: I also had great training videos from ACI Learning, which was taken through a third-party certification program. While helpful, these provided more the backdrop and initial familiarity with the concepts than it did a strong learning engine. I am a CCNA, CCNA Security (both expired), have multiple Microsoft certifications (never an actual Microsoft administrator), and have approximately 10 years now in ASA and FTD NGFW experience. I worked on contract for Cisco for about 4 years total.

The questions and answer choices are particular in making sure that you understand the differences and concepts of all CISSP material. I used other practice tests that I did not do so well on because of not fully understanding the concepts, processes and how to breakdown the questions and answers. This helped me go back to other practice tests and better understand and answer them.

So far, I'm not very impressed with the front end or the back end of this software. I'm also not overly impressed with the content. The software looks dated and lacks features. Compare with something like Pocket Prep, which has a web and mobile app that provide a much better experience, allowing you to use it truly as a training platform. Quantum Exams is another which is far more updated and in the 2020s. Boson has been around for a long time, and in some ways, it shows. We'll see how good the content is by whether or not it helps me pass the exam. I've spent 4 months studying material from numerous sources. The questions seem repetitive and keep covering some of the same topics again and again, while missing others.

These are the only hands-on labs available for CISSP preparation that I've come across. The labs are complemented by theory, making them function as study guide. As an ICT professional with 11 years of experience, I found the labs to be decent not overly challenging. However, for those lacking exposure to certain areas, these labs would be incredibly beneficial for gaining practical, hands-on experience.

I liked the way the questions are worded study mode with the references really helped me understand the concepts. Boson has helped me with several certs, they don't disappoint.

I use Boson test banks for every cert I've ever done. Boson does a fantastic job touching on every relevant topic and explaining why answers are correct/incorrect directly from official source material. 800 questions and explanations are more than enough to pass this exam!

This practice exam is what I attribute to passing my CISSP in conjunction with reading the book and healthy study habits.

I recently passed the exam, and I'm glad that I purchased this product. These practice exam questions are far more difficult than the Sybex Official Study guide questions, which is good, because they make you think. The key part of this product is they provide great explanations about each answer, why it's wrong or right, or even the best answer when multiple answer might be correct (which is very very helpful). The benefit to taking these practice exam questions is to gain a much deeper understanding of the material, not to memorize answers to use on the exam. Focus on understanding the material. My recommendation for others studying for the exam would be to read (don't just read, study!) through the Official Study Guide, create flash cards as you go for just about every key definition or topic, and know it well. Review the flash cards as you study the book. About 1 to 2 weeks before you take the exam go through these practice exams and study and review the concepts that you're still hazy on. Plan for a good solid 4 months of studying, and make sure you have lots of time to study. Good luck!

The CISSP practice exams were a big help as a study supplement. Having the option for study mode and showing answers with explanations was another way to retain info for me. I highly recommend using these practice exams.

The Boson exams for the CISSP deserve their reputation. Nothing will exactly prepare you for the test, but the format and style of the Boson test questions were very similar to the real thing. That's important because the format is tricky and if you're not prepared for it, it's going to smack you in the face on the day of the test. Boson has your back. It's worth what you'll pay for it. Go through the Boson tests at least once when you're close to taking the CISSP. It will help you a lot! It won't exactly teach you the material, but it will prepare you for the real thing, so use it at the end of your study prep. Good luck!

I used the Boson's as well as a few other training aids, including the ISC2 branded study guides which have their own online practice tests and questions banks. The Boson ExSim-Max was noticeably more challenging compared to other practice tests I took. Ultimately, I feel that difference gave me the edge I needed to pass the CISSP on my first attempt. No practice test will equate to sitting for the actual CISSP exam, but the Boson ExSim for CISSP was better at reinforcing concepts I was already familiar with and filled in gaps that other study materials didn't cover.

It is very helpful for the understanding of CISSP 8 large domains!!

I used the Boson exsim for CISSP and passed the exam on the first attempt. I found the quality of the questions excellent as well as explanations of the options given ie. why something is correct or not. For me it was the explanations that made all the difference, literally learning 4 to 5 items per question. Please do not expect to see any of the questions in your exam, rather pay attention to way in which a question is asked and ofcourse what is asked. The manner in which the question is asked is similar to the exam. Cant wait to use Boson when I do my PMP.

For the most part the ExSim was okay, but the question dispute process was disappointing.

I obtained everything I needed to pass the exam in one attempt after finishing the review. Really liked the way the material was presented, guidance on the answers and the ability to use different ways to go from learning to exam simulation! Unbeatable price too!!

Although the ExSim-Max CISSP questions provided a lot of information they were not even close to what was on the exam.

The Boson EX-Sim-Max was very instrumental in my preparation and achievement of my CISSP certification.. The practice test and test environment were extremely helpful with getting me familiar with me actual exam.

The CISSP content was very extensive and Boson helped bring it all together for me. The questions were very intuitive and quite a few hit that critical thinking style that you will absolutely run into on certification exams. After spending several weeks going over questions and rereading chapters I knew I was weak in, I was able to pass the exam without even having to go past question 100 because of the adaptive testing method they use.

It was an excellent resource for my CISSP studies. I was able to measure my progress very accurately and schedule my exam accordingly. I passed my exam in the first attempt.

I purchased the Boson about 10 days prior to my CISSP exam. I had done all of the practice test questions in the CISSP preparation guide as well as in the practice test question book from Sybex, and decided that I should further prepare using Boson after reading reviews. From my experience, I felt as if Boson gave in-depth answers to scenarios and went further to provide the technical knowledge than did Sybex. While I found that some of the questions were far more technical than they needed to be for CISSP exam preparation, Boson taught me more about all the exam areas than did any other resource, and was a great resource for someone who started in the field only 4 years ago. Definitely would recommend and gave me more confidence when I took the exam and passed.

Boson is a good product for the CISSP preparation. It gives you the required mindset and opens you up to hidden areas where you need more focus. For every question, it also gives a summary of key points/ short notes/explanations to help with study and retention. I highly recommend! Passed the CISSP in first attempt Note: The real cissp exam questions are much more tougher than BOSON. Though I recommend, it is definitely not the only product you need! The questions were great, spot on for what things were like on the test. The explanations were very good, walking through the answers and the concepts involved in the questions. The references, however, were not nearly as good as the CCSP. Very few questions had external links for deeper information, most just had a reference to the Boson CISSP learning material – and not even a link. One of the best tools that helped me with the CCSP, what I absolutely loved about the Boson questions for that exam, was that nearly every question had a link to an external resource for a technical document or deep dive into relevant topics. I was disappointed I wasn't able to do that with the CISSP questions since I didn't purchase Boson's in-house training.

I didn’t pass my CISSP on the first try. Checked YouTube and saw good reviews on the Boson ExamSims. I tried the CISSP and the explanations provided in the exam simulator easier to understand and grasp. I passed my CISSP exam on the 2nd. If I take another exam in the future, I’ll use Boson.

The content of this practice exam matches the requirements of the CISSP very closely. I felt very prepared and passed on my first attempt.

After using PluralSight and regularly passing their test, I purchased Boson. I scored poorly on the Boson test and studied more. Boson was ley to passing and more representative of the test. Highly recommended.

The ExSim-Max for CISSP was everything that I needed it to be in preparation for the exam. I went in for the test with a level of confidence that is hard to build without practice. The questions presented closely resembled the exam in regard to selecting a 'best' answer.

I used the Exam simulator to help me prepare in addition to all the books and video courses. I successfully passed and that is it!

If you wanna pass the CISSP exam from the first attempt – you must buy "ExSim-Max for CISSP". Some questions will confuse you because they are from the Boson Study Guide not from the Official Study Guide. But nevertheless, it is is a very good purchase, it worth it. Highly recommend!

I failed Boson test in study mode with a 52.6%, however I am still in Chapter 9 out of 21 in the official ISC2 study book, so I am happy with this as a resource. I will use the Boson test engine in again in about a month and then more heavily towards the end of my studies. I don't take the official test for about two months. I liked the lay out of the exam and the reporting after I graded my exam. This will show me which domains I need to put more effort into as the total score is only one part of passing the official test. My results were where I thought I would be with the domains I have studied so far. I like the "Question Review" section, because it allows me to filter out the domains I have not studied yet and just go back through the questions I missed in domains 1-3. My only wish list item would have been the ability to take domain specific tests, so I can keep my studying more focused and use this more often. I did the online version so if this can actually be done then I missed it. Overall this is a great test engine, nice job!

I read the official CISSP study guide and used these practice tests to study for the exam and passed. These questions are excellent and the explanations are fantastic. Although these are somewhat more technical than they probably need to be, really focus on fully understanding concepts and the thought process behind them.

You've heard "a mile wide and an inch deep" when it comes to CISSP. Boson will teach you how to swim a foot deep, so that the inch-deep water of the exam will feel easier. Provisionally passed today.

The Boson questions were so infuriating at times I thought that someone must have lost their minds. I understood the method to the madness when I took the exam because the insanity of the questions in ExSim for CISSP were the perfect preparation for the insanity of the questions on the actual test. A friend described the test as Bizaro World and he was right.

I do not know if this product will be updated for the new CISSP exam in May 2021 but this was my main practice test resource when studying and I took exams until I was getting mid to high 800s on all of my exams and easily passed the exam at 100 questions.

Boson Exams is very helpful in training your mind for the exam

Great question and explanations encompassing all of the testable material. However, the software GUI and interface is a bit lackluster. For example, once you complete an exam simulation, you MUST review your answers right after your exam. If you restart the software, your answers will not be saved for that simulated exam. You can save your exam, but it will only save the score, not the answers you selected to the questions.

Can use only windows OS need future support can use on MAC OS also by multitasking on device as well.Program easy to use and have updated every month for update exam.

The questions provided here are very similar to the real life exam, also the explanations are extremely detailed to help understand the logic.

This exam simulator was incredibly helpful in preparing me for the CISSP exam. Instead of just asking questions about terms and what they mean, the simulator helps get the exam taker in right mind set through applying knowledge conceptually which is huge.

This software package is critical to passing the CISSP. Buy it ASAP and use the test after you have studied all the material in exam simulation mode first to prepare yourself for the actual thing.

I did not pass the CISSP. I missed it by 2 areas. I only put three(3) stars do to the fact that it was a great test bank, however, I waited to long to purchase and I became confused when changing from other test bank. That was my fault however, after looking back, I don't remember anything from boson being close …Sorry Boson. I am currently seeking CCNA, I'm a Network & routing person by trade (Military), CISSP is not needed in my field also I have heard nothing but great things from people in reference to Boson and the CCNA test by David Bombal and his teachings so we shall see

I passed my CISSP at a 100 questions first try. I really think this exam environment helped me achieve this. Other environments are too easy compared to the real exam. Boson was the closest but still far from the real thing. The real exam is a beast. I took one star off because the real exam does not go as deep in the technical weeds as this exam sim does. My recommendation to Boson is to focus on concepts a bit more than technical stuff. Note: Explanation on this simulators far by far the best. Good luck to you all!

Out of all the study guides and resources, Boson ExSim-Max for CISSP was the KEY to passing the exam with 105 questions answered in 115 minutes. This product pairs well with the official study guide published by Sybex; many of the answers refer to the chapters from the latest edition of this book. The 'random exam' feature ensured that I would not get the same exam twice. If you're preparing for the CISSP exam, you must have this valuable tool.

I Just passed CISSP exam in October 2019. Among my 6 months of prep for CISSP exam, I used Boson in the last two months to check my readiness and also to find weaker domains. For those purposes, Boson helped me a lot for its level of difficulties and similarities to the actual exam. All 750 questions and their answers and explanations gave me a lot of refinement of knowledge and way of thinking. Thanks for Boson, and I definitely recommend to those who are trying CISSP.

Based on recommendations from co-workers, I purchased 2 weeks prior to taking exam. Questions were a bit more technical and straight forward than what is on the exam. However, the exams were great at practicing deconstruction of the question and good for showing which domains you need more study time with.

This is the gold standard for CISSP practice exams. Check out the CISSP subreddit and you'll see that everyone else agrees. Worth the money to help get you in the testing mindset.

I don't think that there are any study aids out there that will properly represent the CISSP questions, and this is no exception. With that said, I think that this is a fantastic product. It helped me detect which domains I was weaker in, and then provided a fairly thorough review. I would recommend always using it in study mode rather than simulation, which doesn't allow a comprehensive review of the questions you got wrong. Helped me pass in my first go!

Passed on my first attempt. Boson mixed with the Sybex questions cover all the areas and provide a great mix. Boson goes above and beyond any other test engine with their examples.
